Having to play their last game with only five players, due to legal difficulties, the Lakers (7-14) came back with a full roster to play Finlandia University (8-10). LSSU First year head coach has been able to figure out the winning formula on the road as the Lakers have posted a home court stand of 7-4, including their win over Finlandia, 86-64. Sitting just a few games behind Michigan Tech (10-9, 5-6 GLIAC) in the GLIAC standings, LSSU (6-12, GLIAC 5-8) was hoping to lessen the spread for the upcoming tournament. Not having met this team so far this year, the Lakers were looking to extend their blazing home record to 7-3, but were cut just a little bit short not being able to edge out the Huskies. Ladies Win Final Game of Month |

The LSSU basketball games scheduled for Wednesday, January 30, against Northern Michigan University were pushed back one day due to the extreme weather conditions that forced every University in the Upper Peninsula to close. This postponement didn’t side track the Lakers in their quest to finish the month out on a solid .500 record, and set the stage for their match-up with NMU on the February 23 in Marquette. Men Improve to 6-3 at Home |

The Lake Superior State University Men’s Basketball team (6-12, 5-8 GLIAC) has been on fire this season in the Bud Cooper Gymnasium. Their home record was an astounding 5-3 before this game; two of there losses were against undefeated teams but were able to knock off previously undefeated Central State. Two days after proving themselves superior to the NMU Wildcats, the LSSU Lady Lakers (9-12, 5-8 GLIAC) stepped onto the court to take on one of their toughest opponents thus far this year, the No. 23 ranked Michigan Tech University Huskies (16-4, 9-2 GLIAC). This was also the last home game that the Lakers would play this year, and 276 people came out to see the Lakers defend their court for the last time this season.
