Winless Lakers Against Undefeated Gannon PDF Print E-mail

After an almost pathetic performance against GVSU (8-0, GLIAC 1-0) at home where they only led the game by one point at the beginning, the Lakers were hoping that the strength of 258 faithful Laker fans would propel them to their first win of the season. Being pitted against their second undefeated team in a row, it would be a daunting task at best.

Last weekend’s home series with Michigan State was another disappointment for Laker fans.  In another home sweep of Lakers Hockey, Michigan State showed why it deserves to be ranked 4th in the nation with a 3-2 and 5-2 win.

Lakers Struggle With GVSU PDF Print E-mail

The Lake State Men’s basketball team continued their struggles on Saturday as they hosted Number 2 ranked Grand Valley State University in their home opener, 78-61.

Being the first home game of the season, many fans showed up to give their support. “It was fun. We lost, but it was fun.” Said Sophmore Kassandra Numan, which goes to shows that fans will weather any storm to support their boys in blue.

Lady Lakers Lose Third PDF Print E-mail

After starting 2-1 on the season, the LSSU Lady Lakers lost two games in a row, including a heart breaker against SIUE in overtime; the Lady Lakers fell to 2-3 and hoped that the home court advantage would be the spark that they would need to get past the tough Grand Valley State University team.

Men’s Basketball to South Dakota PDF Print E-mail

The men’s basketball teams has experienced a disappointing start to their 07-08 campaign by losing their first 4 games by an average of 11.7 points a game, and have lost their last three by 15 each, counting their loss to Northern State University on November 24.

Though it is apparent that the Lakers are not playing well, there are some good things that came out of their game with NSU. In the first half, the Lakers shot well. From the field they were a solid 45.8% on 11-24 shooting. They were also 8-9 from the charity stripe in the first half and 13-15 in the second making them 87.5% from the line.
