If it’s not about getting a break from school, and having an excuse to be lazy, overeat, and watch football, what is it about?

Social Networking Users Advised Against Provocative Content PDF Print E-mail

If you put your pictures up on social networking sites such as Facebook or Myspace, be aware. More and more employers are checking up on prospective employees’ sites before hiring. So those party pictures you put up for a laugh might justcost you that new job you’ve been hoping for. This doesn’t just extend to outside jobs, either. An RA on campus lost their position recently, allegedly due to content on their Facebook.

Student of the Month: Kyle “Twitch” Stockdale PDF Print E-mail

Kyle Stockdale, a forensic chemistry/chemistry major in his senior year, keeps a busy schedule. In addition to his schoolwork, Twitch is in the Choir for the fourth year in a row. He is also well involved in the theater program at LSSU. He was unable to participate this semester, due to a research project, but eagerly awaits the spring musical. He spend a great deal of time hanging out in the chemistry labs.

Spotlight on Officer Christopher Johnson PDF Print E-mail

Public Safety is an invaluable service provided to LSSU students. Public safety responds to assault, parking, alcohol, larceny, and all other issues regarding the well-being of the campus students. One of the friendly faces of this awesome force is Officer Christopher Johnson.

Officer Johnson is more than familiar with Sault Ste. Marie. He is a life-long native, born and bred in the quaint, friendly, portage town. Following his graduation from Sault Area High School in 1984 with merit certificates in cabinetry, auto-mechanics, and carpentry, Officer Johnson attended Lake Superior State University. In 1989, he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice/Conservation Law Enforcement for the State of Michigan. In addition, he earned a Police Officer Certification and Associates Degree in Natural Resources Technology.

Professor of the Week—Dr. James Schaefer PDF Print E-mail

Dr. James Schaefer has been an assistant professor for criminal justice and fire science here at Lake Superior State University for a little over a year; he started teaching at LSSU in August of last year.  When asked why he came to LSSU to teach he said, “It is my alma mater.  I enjoy being here… the weather, the sports, the area is all welcoming.”  Dr. Schaefer also commented on enjoying his time here on campus.  “The small size of the campus and the good student to teacher ratio is what is most exciting,” Dr. Schaefer said.
