Members of the LSSU Dance Company and the Lake State Theatre Company invite all of the Sault Ste. Marie and surrounding communities to two fun fright-filled evenings full of Screams and Spook-tacular themes for Halloween.
The Haunted Hall is a fundraiser initiated by 25-30 student members of the LSSU Dance Company and the Lake State Theatre Company. “These two organizations teamed together, in hopes to create a fundraiser event that could possibly become a continual annual event for years to come --as a successful fundraiser for their organizations,” says Deborah Choszczyk the LSSU Dance Company. Funds will be shared by both groups to help accommodate travel and costume expenses as they represent LSSU for in and out-of-state events. The Haunted Hall will be a special Halloween event this year, not only because it is the first event of its kind created by these two organizations, but it will also be a little more nontraditional in regards to less incorporation of store bought merchandise. Store bought masks can be perceived to take away from the illusion of scary beings and scenery. Actors performing in the Haunted Hall will appear to be more visually realistic as ghouls and goblins through use of prosthetics and make-up created by Dan Choszczyk of the LSSU Dance Company. While shows for adults are filled with illusions of blood, gore, and terror around every corner, the shows designed for children are lighter and contain a warmer atmosphere. Why do these two organizations believe this event will be successful? “People love to be scared and we have seen young and old, women and men taken back by what they see” states Deborah Choszczyk. The Haunted Hall will be located in Marquette Hall on the LSSU campus. Parking can be found in the Art’s Center parking lot. Show dates are as follows: Friday, October 26 Children’s Show - Recommended Ages 14 and Under (5 p.m. to 7 p.m.) Adult Show - Recommended Ages 14 and Older (8 p.m. to 10 p.m.) Saturday, October 27 Children’s Show (4 p.m. to 6 p.m.) Adult Show (8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and 10 p.m. to 12 a.m.) Show prices before 8:00 p.m. are $2.00 and all access shows are $3.00.
