The Black Dahlia Murder – Nocturnal

Stemming from Waterford Township in Michigan which is in Oakland County many people in Michigan know the band The Black Dahlia Murder.  The never duplicated but always attempted Detroit boys are back to reclaim the title of the great death metal band. This is no problem with their new album; they show how they got it before and how it isn’t leaving anytime soon. “I don’t think the pretenders will able to match this one,” proclaims vocalist Trevor Strnad talking about the new album. The new album is one to remember maybe their best one yet. The guitar solos will wreck your brain, and the lyric content will want to make you vomit into your empty skull. Fans have been waiting for these gory lyrics and now the lyrics are finally here. After being on Ozzfest, Sounds of the Undeground, and an Australian Tour in the past two years these guys have beaten odds to create this masterpiece of an album. Nocturnal is the most evil TBDM has ever got. They are not afraid of critics or anything else that will stand in their way. 9/10

As I Lay Dying – An Ocean Between Us

It has been a little more than a year since Shadows are Security was released. It was a concept album and the new one is more diverse. The band is metal but it intertwines punk and hardcore perfectly usually without even a glitch. From the first track until the last AILD doesn’t let you go until its over. You can always listen to it again and be caught up in it. They took songs in different directions, tried new things but the feeling of AILD is still alive and well. Recruiting Adam Dutkiewicz from Killswitch Engage the sound is really good. The sound is much more driven into a purpose of what AILD really is. Each song focuses on different band members strengths so they can show the fans just how talented they are.  The tour they are embarking on is an accomplishment. They are touring in the United States, Canada, Japan, Europe, and Australia. With an already large fan base that they have it is expected to grow even more with the new album release coinciding with the world tour. 7.5/10

Everafter - Metal Radio EP

Just releasing the EP to metal radio shows how talented this band really is. The songs, “will make you pissed off, some of it is brutal...and some will hopefully make you horny,” writes band member Grant. Artists that will remind you of Everafter are Motley Crue, Kiss, Atreyu and the 80s decade of rock music. The guys in the band wanted to create a fun album that fans would not be hesitant to get the air guitar out and playing to join the band. Produced by American Hi-Fi front man Stacy Jones, he captured Everafter’s live energy perfectly in this EP. Having a producer like Stacy who is excited about music is a key to producing a good album. The guys have a lot of fun being in the band and that’s why they are creating such fun music as well as talented musicians to listen too. Also this summer they got a lot of exposure because they were the opening band for the Poison/Cinderella summer tour. After that tour they had fresh minds and were a stronger unit to boot. Everafter is also set to go on tour soon with Fuel and Trapt and will expose themselves to a whole new crowd of rock fans. 8/10

Rammstein – Volkerball

The live CD/DVD box set was released September 18th from Universal Music. Volkerball translates into the “People’s Ball,” which documents the 04-July 05 Reise, Reise tour. Played to over one million screaming fans in twenty one different countries was a major accomplishment. The one magnificent thing is that every venue hosted an enormous castle laboratory set, 140 tons of gear and transport and sixty-three crew members. Rammstein is not shy at all to show the greatness and power they have acquired by putting on shows of this magnitude. This tour never touched North American soil so its a good chance for Canadian and American fans to get it so they can see Rammstein at their finest. Even though US cd sales exceed 200,000 Rammstein units there hasn’t been a United States tour in many years. The DVD also gives a behind the scenes look at the band which has never been seen before. 9.5/10
