The Lake Superior State University Public Safety Department reports the following activity for the period of March 25 through April 2, 2007: On Monday, April 2, 2007 a woman came into the Public Safety Department in an attempt to get a temporary parking pass. She was advised that she had received too many passes and she was told that the pass she was getting would be her last one until she spoke with the Director. The woman disagreed with the information and declared she would talk about the situation with someone else and stormed out of the office. Also on Monday, April 2, an individual came in to the department to report that someone had stolen the tailgate from his pickup truck while it was parked in L Lot. The individual also filed a report with the Sault Sainte Marie Police Department. On Tuesday, April 3, officers responded to the Norris Center in response to a complaint about local teenagers creating problems in a locker room. The offenders were advised that disruptive behavior would not be tolerated and that if it continued, they would be banned from the facility. They were also escorted from the building. Thursday, April 5th saw officers once again at the Norris Center dealing with disruptive teenagers in the locker room. After a brief investigation, officers determined two of the suspects were under the posted age to be in the facility without an adult accompanying them. Those individuals were removed from the building. The other two were advised that if they continued to be disruptive, they would not be allowed to use the facilities. While officers were dealing with the previous situation, a LSSU student decided to express his opinions as to the officer’s actions. During the ensuing conversation, the individual refused to supply the officers with his name. The officers, however, were able to identify the individual through other means. Further action in the matter is pending. In addition to the above actions, your Public Safety Department conducted the following routine activities: 39 room admits, 13 weapons escorts, 6 motorist assists, and 5 lost and found property reports. We also investigated on alarm and assisted maintenance 2 times. Public Safety Tip of the Week: With commencement approaching, there will be numerous opportunities to celebrate the successful end of your college careers. Please celebrate responsibly. You’ve worked hard to reach this point in your lives. Don’t risk throwing it away in a moment of carelessness.
