On Tuesday October 30 at 8 p.m., Dave Tamkin was once again in the Galley entertaining Lake State students with his singing and acoustic guitar. This is Dave’s third time playing in the Galley and he says that he “hopes there will be a fourth.” Dave Tamkin, who is originally from Chicago, has been touring the country doing what he loves, entertaining audiences with his music. Dave’s performance took place for over an hour, as students listened to songs that he wrote himself, covers of other songs, stories behind his songs, and about his life and his career. The dim and intimate setting that he played in put his performance on a more personal level making students connect with his music, and have fun listening to him play and talk. He also got the audience involved by choosing what songs to play next, telling them jokes or stories about relationships, school and how he loves coming to Sault Sainte Marie.  Dave played many songs from previous visits here, as well as many new songs that will be on his up and coming CD.  LSSU is only one of the many schools that Dave has performed at. Besides playing at LSSU, he says that he “tours the country playing over 250 shows a year at colleges and venues.” As with all singers that come for Music in the Galley, Dave brought many CDs that were available for students to purchase. Dave is one of many people that LSSUs Activities Board brings in for Music in the Galley. Hopefully, there will be many more visits from Dave in the future.
