On Wednesday November 7, 2007 musician/songwriter Will Bowen made his first visit to Lake State. He played for students in the Galley from 8 pm until 9 pm with just his voice and his guitar. Will’s performance consisted of songs of his own and many well known covers from other artists ass well. Students listened to him play, as well as listening to him tell stories behind his music and his life as a touring artist. Grill 155 put on a free nacho and soda special that was sponsored by Activities Board, available to students who came down to listen to Will play. Will, who is originally from Cleveland Ohio, began his career at the age of 17 playing in local clubs. At age 18 he signed a record deal with Sony Music. Will’s songs have gotten so popular that many of them have been used in shows on the WB such as “Smallville”, “Dawson’s Creek”, and “Charmed”, and also shows on MTV such as “Laguna Beach”. He has also written songs for artists that have become well known and popular. Will performed the song “Red Rag Top” which he wrote himself and was then made famous by country singer Tim McGraw. Ashley Wyers said that “It was exciting to have someone whose work has been used in shows that I enjoy to watch!” Besides touring at different colleges and clubs,Will has toured and opened for artists like Maroon 5, Gavin DeGraw, and Edwin McCain. Like any other artist that visit Lake State, CDs were available for a price of $10 each.
