The Lake Superior State University Public Safety Department reports the following activity for the period of April 9 through April 15, 2007:

A high school student using the Student Activities Center on Monday, April 9 to play basketball reported that a pair of his Nike basketball shoes had been stolen.  He stated that he walked away from his belongs for a few minutes to talk to some friends and when he returned the shoes were missing.

Officers on patrol on Monday, April 9th, observed an individual walking across campus carrying a paintball gun.  The officers made contact with the individual and explained that weapons of any kind were not allowed on campus.  The weapon was confiscated.

On Tuesday, April 10th, a student filed a report with the Public Safety Department about his vehicle being tampered with.  He told the officers that his vehicle had been parked on campus while he attended class.  When he tried to leave, the vehicle would not start.

A call from an instructor sent officers to Crawford Hall to check on the well being of a student.  The student had been suffering from dizziness and the instructor was concerned about her ability to make it to her residence safely.  Officers spoken with the subject, who stated she did not wish to receive medical help, and transported her to her residence.  They also made arrangements to do a follow-up check on the individual.

A representative of the U.S. Census Bureau requested an escort while he was conducting surveys in Osborn Hall on Friday, April 13.  Officers were happy to assist his endeavors.

On Sunday, April 15th, one of the custodians in the Norris Center reported he had ejected a group of 5 or 6 high school students out of the SAC.  The young men were reportedly behaving in a disruptive manner.

In addition to the above actions, your Public Safety Department conducted the following routine activities:  42 room admits, 34 weapons escorts, 4 motorist assists, and 15 lost and found property reports.  We also investigated 3 alarms and assisted maintenance 6 times.

Public Safety Tip of The Week:  With the nice weather, students will be retrieving their bicycles out of winter storage.  Please remember to properly secure your property in one of the bike racks provided.
