February 18 through February 24, 2008 The Lake Superior State University Public Safety Department reports the following activity for the period of February 18 through February 24, 2008: Officers received a noise complaint on Tuesday, February 19, at 0230 for the Townhouse area. Officers responded to the scene but could not locate any disturbance. Also on Tuesday, February 19, a student came to the Public Safety Office to report that she had experienced a “slip and fall” accident on Monday evening as she was entering Crawford to attend a class. Her complaints included possible injuries to her back and knee but all she wanted to do was make sure the area received proper attention from the Grounds Crew. A resident of North Erie Hall filed a noise complaint at 0130 on Wednesday, February 20th. Officers investigated and failed to find any significant source of noise. A professor with the Fire Science program was able to put his professional skills into action on Wednesday, February 20th at 1425 when he extinguished a smoldering cigarette ashtray attached to the Norris Center. There was no damage to the building. The presence of an unaccompanied male in Osborn Hall prompted a call to the Public Safety Department on Sunday, February 24th at 0248. Officers found the subject in a room. He stated it was his girlfriend’s room but she was out at a party. Officers advised the young man that he would need to leave, which he did without protest. A resident of Brady Hall apparently consumed too much alcohol and ended up in an unconscious and unresponsive state. As a result, the RA Staff in Brady Hall requested an ambulance. Officers responded to the scene and turned the student over to Sault Fire and Rescue. A Townhouse resident reported leaving her laundry in a dryer in the laundry room on Saturday, February 23. When she returned approximately two hours later, the laundry was missing.
Public Safety Tip of the Week: Please remember that temporary parking permits are available from the Public Safety Office. Stop by and request one in the event that your registered vehicle is not working or if you have a different vehicle. It’s better than receiving a parking ticket.
