The iPod touch is a portable media player and WiFi mobile platform designed and marketed by Apple Inc. It was launched to the public on September 5, 2007. The iPod touch is the new installment to the iPod family; this iPod is different from the many other types of iPods because it adds the graphical user interfaces Cover Flow and Multi-touch to the iPod line. It is available with 8, 16, or 32 GB flashes of memory. When asked why she wanted an iPod touch Jessica Wangen responded by saying “I want an iPod touch because being that it is a touch screen, it looks easier to use than the original iPod.” Apple’s new iPod touch is a little confusing because it looks like an iPhone, but it’s not a phone, and it lacks other iPhone features such as a camera and Bluetooth. The iPod touch has many pros and cons. The pros would be revolutionary interface without iPhone’s AT & T charges and accessory/interference (GSM) issues, web access with the presence of Wi-Fi, accepts standard mini-stereo plug (unlike iPhone) good screen images, and good performance overall. The cons for the iPod touch include a capacity to 32 GB max, lacks hardware features offered by iPhone: camera, Bluetooth, volume control and speaker, lacks iPhone applications: Mail, Notes, Maps, SMS, Widgets, (Weather Stocks, etc.), mediocre earphones (and some amplifier noise) closed platform with limited features and customization, minimal capacity as personal organizer, and small format limits usability as We client and productivity device. If you have an iPhone, there’s little or no reason for you to invest in an iPod touch, which offers less than the iPhone at a similar price. If you don’t have an iPhone, the iPod Touch is your only ticket to the multi-touch experience, which we expect to play a large roll in Apple’s future and you might be able to justify the purchase on the basis alone. The 8 GB iPod touch is being sold for 299.00, the 16 GB for 399.00 and the 32 GB for 499.00.
