THIS IS A JOKE. It is part of our April Fools Day edition.

The Administration has finally decided what to do with old South Hall- tear it down.  They just announced this afternoon that South Hall will be torn down starting Monday, May 5th- the week after students leave for the summer.

South Hall was originally build with an exact twin building as infantry barracks for the New Fort Brady when the fort was moved to its present location atop Ashmun Hill.  South Hall’s sister building burnt down to the ground mysteriously in the late 1960’s, and this recent decision raises the question about what the Administration has been plotting for that piece of ground.  It has been rumored that there are plans for a new building to be erected on that ground to house the Criminal Justice/ Fire Science program.  A confidential source stated that “Within the next 2 years, construction will start on a CJ/FS building, designed specifically for the special needs of both programs- from a Simmunitions house mock up and an underground rifle range, to a state of the art fire house, this new building will be the best building of its kind any where in the U.S.”  It is also rumored that the new building will be dedicated as the “James Blashill Building”, as a tribute to the retiring professor of Criminal Justice.

Many students are upset by this recent decision, citing various reasons including the historical nature of this campus, and the ideal design of the building for classrooms.  “Why tear it down just to build a new building when it is in perfectly good shape?” stated one student.  Many promised to take legal action if the Administration attempted to destroy the building, but the date set for South Hall’s destruction makes it more difficult for many students since they will be on summer vacation.  LSSU’s campus may look very different next Fall after the destruction of this famous building.
