According to the blurb on Comedy Central (that was also put up on the LSSU site to promote the event), John Mulaney speaks in old-time jargon, should have been born a hundred years ago, and will be a hit with – oddly enough – liberal arts majors.

John said after the show “I wish they wouldn’t put that up there, it doesn’t even make any sense.” More accurate info from the same source is that John has been performing in comedy and improv since he was seven, and has made his living writing for movies and TV shows, is co-creator of “I love the 30’s” (Because who didn’t love the Great Depression?), and appears on VH1’s Best Week Ever. He is currently touring the country, and last year toured with recently semi famous comedian Mike Birbiglia.

While his ‘old-time jargon’ is still up for debate, John’s set went over extremely well with the audience, being described by sophomore Laker Aaron Ohrn as “probably the best thing to come to campus all year” Mulaney’s act itself started with a critique of Northern Michigan airports, specifically Pellston, and wove a twisted path across the public’s general hatred of Hilary Clinton, the deadliness of 5 cent shot night down at the pub, getting blackout drunk as a financial strategy (you can make of that what you wish), and bible stories – more specifically, the foolhardiness of offering to chop a baby in half as a mechanism for determining which of two women is the mother. On the way, however, he took several side trips to various Fire Science students and extracting information about their major, the evil robot uprising schemes of a certain Michael Stoiko, and shed some light upon the wild lives of Activities Board people.

In the end, Mulaney departed back into the dark, cold night (to catch another early morning flight in Pellston, after crossing a bridge he described as making “one of the most horrible sounds ever”), leaving behind an entertained and apparently enthusiastic audience.
