For students here at Lake State, there is an almost untapped pool of resources that provides an array of services for anyone seeking help. This diamond in the rough is known as the Audio Visual Center. The Audio Visual Center is located in room 249 on the main floor of the Kenneth. J. Shouldice Library. The Audio Visual Center really is a great place to pick up just about anything a student would ever need. The greatest aspect of the Audio Visual center has to be the low prices placed on all of the products. For example, scantrons can be bought seven at a time for only a dollar and transparencies can be made for only a quarter! Furthermore, the variety of products offered for sale at the Audio Visual Center is immense. They sell everything from pencils to disk drives and just about everything in between. The reason for the low, low prices is that the Audio Visual Center is geared for students. The Center is not there to make a profit, rather provide students with the supplies they need at the cheapest prices possible. Aside from the selling portion of the Audio Visual Center, they also offer their services when asked to repair computers and projectors. “The Audio Visual Center is pretty much the place that makes everything work,” said Dan Keetley, an employee of the Audio Visual center. They are responsible for providing professors with working equipment and ensuring that equipment is in perfect operating order. It is not just the classroom equipment the fine folks at the A.V. Center look after, their there to help students as well. The A.V. Center will provide assistance for anyone in need of an internet connection while on campus. Also, if your computer is having operating issues, the A.V. Center is the place to go. Another big draw for the Audio Visual Center is their hours of operation. They open bright and early at 7:30 a.m. and close late at 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. So, if you are ever in a pinch and need that scantron five minutes before a big test, or if your computer is not connecting to the net the night before that ten page paper is due, the Audio Visual Center is the place for you.
