I got together with the winners of the Student Government elections this past week to ask them some questions about how they felt about winning the election and what they are planning on accomplishing next year for the Student Body.

Student Government President: Eric ‘Dane’ Ciarkowski, Junior, Political Science major

Eric feels that, he can bring new ideas to every aspect of Student Government this next year.   He is interested in improving and reforming many of the more vague aspects of the Student Constitution and making it more useful and accurate as well as more user friendly.

Activities Board Secretary: Ashley Brauning, Sophomore, Political Science/Pre-law major.

Ashley’s goals include promoting and continuing current activities provided by Student Government.   She is also highly interested in working in concert with Activities Board on their projects and improving relations between the two organizations next year.

UDCAC Secretary: Michael Chevalier, Sophomore, Political Science/Pre-law major.

Mike sees his main focus for these next two semesters is to develop stronger relations with other Michigan Universities.   He is also very concerned with the new funding policies at LSSU and helping ensure that students are being treated fairly in all aspects of it.   He also plans to work with legislators in Lansing promoting the University and putting it more into statewide recognition.

DFC Secretary: Emory Nelkie Senior, Geology major

Emory brings to the Discretionary Funding Committee a years experience and is one of the two returning secretaries on Student Government.   He hopes to work increasing student awareness of the Discretionary Funding Committee and to continue providing resources to those groups who need it.

SSCS Secretary: Brandon Zajac, Criminal Justice major, brings his tremendous skill in relating to student concerns to yet another school year.   This past year he has proved his worth time and time again in doing his best to represent the Student Body as a whole.   He hopes to work in solving even more student issues and eagerly awaits your complaints.
