Changes are coming to student government as the newly elected leaders take over for their positions next year and many of the old guard train the new leaders to their positions and help them better understand their responsibilities for next year. President Hillary Kozma presented the idea for a new ‘Off Campus Survival Guide” designed to help student that want to move off campus in learning how to take care of things like, rent, garbage pick up and other community issues. This guide, it is hoped, will be available for off campus students next year. The Student Services and Concerns Committee will be giving out cheese cake for concerns in the Quarterdeck for all of those who bring their concerns to them! Don’t miss this chance to express your opinions on the Unversity and get a tasty treat for your trouble. As always they are looking for new ways to reach students and are ready and waiting for your comments, concerns and suggestions. The Activities and Public Relations Committee, under Heather Youtzy presented and got passed a resolution for the purchase of a new foosball table here on campus to be placed in the Peacock Cove near the gaming area. Currently all that occupies this space is two pool tables and it is hoped that the addition of foosball will attract students as well. Political Action and University Development Committee welcomed as its new chair Michael Chevalier, and announced that they were working on developing new strategies for promoting the University on a State level next year. Discretionary Funding Committee had a short report saying that they were preparing to receive one more request for funding on Sunday the 22nd from the Compass. Later in the meeting, Doug Anger, the Chief Justice for Judiciary Board announced that the Student Government Elections have gone extremely well this year with a 50% increase in the number of students who voted. In all, approximately 175 students participated in the elections this year. Chief Justice Anger expressed the desire for new ideas of how voter turnout could be increased for next year and also congratulated all of the winners in being elected. Add as favourites (0)
