Darkest Hour - Deliver UsBeing together for over a decade is a great feat in itself; but Darkest Hour is just getting primed for everything they want to accomplish. They like change, and they feel it keeps them together as a band better. Producing this album was Devin Townsend, who is well known in the metal community. He has also produced for GWAR, Lamb of God, and was in the band Strapping Young Lad. The band is on the Sounds of the Underground tour this summer, and with their new album, they were very excited to play the new songs live. Being a hardcore band, they know how to get the crowd going and they also like to meet their fans very much. The band members will respond to your emails and questions unlike most big names. The new album features some deep vocals of course and great guitar riffs. If you like hardcore, this album is definitely one of the best this summer. 8/10 Rignworm – The Venomous Grand DesignTaking their name from a Vincent Price movie in the early 90s, one can only imagine the sheer musical style these guys put forth. In 2001, their Victory Records debut was a smash hit and their latest album was also very good. They have toured with bands such as Hatebreed, Converge, and the Red Chord. They sing is nothing but pure hardcore metal, which can make any true metal head go to their knees and plead for forgiveness. They will be on tour this fall with Darkest Hour and others for a tour that will teach you about metal and hardcore how it is meant to be taught. 8/10 Between the Buried and Me – ColorsThe new album Colors just shows how much better a band can get even when it is so great already. Being the fifth release BTBAM just gets better and better. Their last album, which was a cover album, was amazing, as it showed how good they are at changing a song but still leaving the original elements of it in. Songs by Motley Crue, Queen, Metallica, and the Smashing Pumpkins were just some big names they covered. Released before last year’s Ozzfest, they got to play in front of a lot of people who normally wouldn’t listen to them. After gathering more fans and ending the tour, they got to work on this new album. “It wasn’t until we started recording Colors where we felt we tapped into a vibe and made us feel like a solid unit,” said Waggoner the guitarist. The album is like something you would expect from Pink Floyd, Tool, and Mastodon put together. Its very soothing for fans of BTBAM. It shows emotion, and moods which show a continuous puzzle of metal and progressive rock mixed together. This has to be the best album this band has put forth and it shows with every song. The album flows from one song to the other, and is a story which is told beautifully by the musicianship and lyrical content. The nearest show will be Mount Clemens at the Hayloft Liquor Stand on October 24th with Horse the Band and The End. The CD will be released on September 18th. 10/10. Add as favourites (0)
