Kyle Stockdale, a forensic chemistry/chemistry major in his senior year, keeps a busy schedule. In addition to his schoolwork, Twitch is in the Choir for the fourth year in a row. He is also well involved in the theater program at LSSU. He was unable to participate this semester, due to a research project, but eagerly awaits the spring musical. He spend a great deal of time hanging out in the chemistry labs.

Twitch used to play a lot of drop-in hockey as well, but quit after what he calls “being run in the boards all the time” when it was supposed to be non-contact. Kyle also is the former president of Delta Sigma Phi.

Twitch is also the Production Manager for LSSU’s student radio station, WLSO. His favorite part of his job is his flexible schedule. He has a set number of hours to be in the studio any given week, but he can take those hours whenever he chooses. He also works on an as needed basis, recording promos and PSAs in the sound booth in the station. Twitch wants to start doing in house editing of songs that are currently unplayable due to explicit lyrics. He says the station has many songs that can not be put into the computer there due to explicit lyrics. He wants to use the software to “bleep” swear words, or to literally flip the swear word but cutting out the snippet of the song with the offending word, and reversing that section only. Twitch also Dj’s a show on Wednesdays, 11-1. His show has a wide variety of music, with the midline being alternative rock, but stretching out into hard rock and metal, as well as classic rock and lite rock.

Twitch is a serious Lakers fan. He is the self described “loud guy” at the games. Although no longer in his possession, he used to wave a big Lakers flag, but now merely has a large PVC pipe that he brings to games.

Taking up much of his time this semester is his senior research Project. He is attempting to develop a superior method for testing dietary supplements for ephedrines. The current method is 4 pages long and very clunky. His proposed method, will still be both repeatable and consistent but will also be simplified and streamlined. Professor Judy Westrick plans to use his method in Forensic Chemistry classes this summer, according to Twitch.

Upon Graduation, Twitch plans on following his Fiancé. Right now, his sights are on Kalamazoo.

The origin of Kyle’s nickname apparently relates back to an incident freshman year. Kyle had never drank Mountain Dew before. Thus, inevitably, a friend gave him a twelve pack of it for his birthday. He proceeded to drink the entire twelve pack in 1 hour. He spent the time after rocking back and forth in his chair, giving him the nickname of Twitch, which has stuck ever since.
